To prepare for and ensure success in business continuity, BC teams must conduct business impact analyses (BIAs), create comprehensive continuity plans, test these plans extensively, and plan for flexible crisis and incident management. Unfortunately, while BCM software vendors provide the most essential functionality to support the BC planning lifecycle, few have innovated to provide more intelligent workflow and automation, sophisticated visuals of dependencies and risk, or integration of business context and risk intelligence for real-time situational awareness during incidents. The lack of innovation in the BCM market has no doubt led to its lack of adoption, with only 30% of firms using commercial BCM software, according to the Forrester/Disaster Recovery Journal Q4 2020 Global Business Continuity Management Survey.
